Indian architecture is a delightful blend of numerous styles of
architecture, representing various cultural influences, regional variations
and dynastic control. The country has myriads of attractions in terms of
forts and monuments. Each monument is a history in itself, symbolising
wonderful artistry. The master craftsmanship and the elegance of the
incredible structures enliven the glory and grandeur of the bygone eras. An

Which are the famous forts and monuments?
The Amber Palace, built in red sandstone and white marble, epitomises a
wonderful combination of the Hindu and the Mughal architecture. The
pyramidal structure of the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds is an
incredible structure in itself. The giant complex of the City Palace, a
major landmark in the city of Jaipur, is a magnificent collection of royal
residences, courtyards, gardens and other palatial buildings. Most of the
parts of this palace were designed by a Britisher Sir Swinton Jacob. The
Jaisalmer Fort, founded by Rawal Jaiswal, is the second oldest fort in the
state of Rajasthan. The Red Fort or the Lal Quila was built by the Mughal
emperor Shah Jahan when he shifted his capital from Agra to Shajahanabad in
the year 1638. Standing in the heart of the city of Hyderabad, the Charminar
is a magnificent piece of Qutub Shahi architecture. Other famous attractions
include the Junagarh Palace, the Lake Palace, the Umaid Bhawan Palace, the
Jaisalmer Fort, the Golconda Fort and the Mysore Palace.
