Haridwar India

Badrinath
Where is Haridwar?
Haridwar, a timeless source of Ayurvedic medicines and herbal remedies, is located in the foothills of the Himalayas in the north Indian state of Uttaranchal. It is known for its rich religious and cultural heritage. It is one's gateway to the Four Pilgrimages in the Uttarakhand region.

How will you gain access?
The closest airport is the Jolly Grant in Dehradun. Haridwar is well connected by trains to almost all the major cities of the country. The National Highway no. 45 passes through Haridwar, providing it a fabulous link to cities lying inside and outside the state.

What does it signify?
A pilgrimage to Haridwar is considered to be of high religious significance. The holy Ganges leaves the mountains and enters the plains, Haridwar being the first town to be welcomed. It is a firm belief of the Hindu community that taking a bath here washes away all impurities of one's soul, thereby taking one towards ultimate freedom Nirvana. Haridwan has been blessed by the trinity of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. The city has emerged today as a major learning centre for arts, science and culture. It has, over the ages, purified people's minds, their bodies and their souls.Haridwar India
