Where is Mussoorie?

Mussoorie
is located in the foothills of the Himalayan ranges in the state of
Uttaranchal in North India. It lies in the Garhwal region at an elevation of
6,578 ft on a ridge 34 km north of Dehradun. With majestic mountains,
verdant plains and varied flora and fauna, Mussoorie is a fascinating hill
resort.
How will you gain access?
Jolly Grant Airport (58 km/ 1½ hrs) at Dehradun is the closest airport
from Mussoorie. There are regular Vayudoot and Jagson flights from New Delhi
to the Doon Valley (50 min). Taxis and buses are available from the airport
to take you to Mussoorie (60 km/ 2¼ hrs). Dehradun (34 km/ 1 hr) is the
closest railhead. There are direct buses available from Delhi (290 km/ 6-7
hrs) to Mussoorie.

» The Mall
The Mall, straddling a ridge extending from Cloud's End in the west to
Rockville in the east, begins at Gandhi Chowk and ends at the Clock Tower.
One can walk this distance in an hour. Climb the steep road through the
cantonment to Lal Tibba, the peak towering above Landour, and Sister's
Bazaar.
» Tibetan Temple
Located in the Happy Valley area of Mussorie, the Tibetan Temple is
testament to the rich Tibetan cultural heritage. The temple attracts a
number of tourists and visitors from far and wide.
» Gun Hill

Gun
Hill, the second highest point in Mussoorie, provide magnificent views of
the area. It seems as if the hill station is changing colours every minute.
Fro trekkers, there are available trekking options as well. The hill can be
reached from Kachehri (a 20-minute stroll). tourists prefer the 400-metre
ropeway to get to the hill, though.
» Kempty Fall
At a distance of 13 km from Mussoorie is located the Kempty Fall. It was
John Mekinan who developed this place into a tourist destination.
» Camel's Back Road
Camel's Back Road, a 3 km stretch from the Library to Kulri Bazaar, is yet
another attractive feature of the town. It will prove to be a very pleasant
walk. You can also scramble down the northern slopes of Mussoorie to reach
the little Aglar river, a tributary of the Yamuna.
» Mussoorie Lake
The Mussoorie Lake rests at a distance of 7 km on the Highway to Dehradun.
One can have a magnificent view of the Dun Valley from here. Boating
facilities are also available here.

Mussoorie hill stations has a number of roller skating rink, attracting a
huge number of adventure seekers from all around. There are fabulous options
of trekking to explore and enjoy the natural bounty that Mussories takes
great pride in. One can try the Gangotri, Yamunotri, the Black Peak, Har Ki
Doon and other treks in the Garhwal Himalayas. One can also head for the
Aglar river and the Yamuna river for trout fishing.

Maximum temperature during the summers records 23 degrees centigrade.
During the winters the temperature can drop down to a minimum of 1 degree.
Mussoorie can be best visited between the months of March and June and
between October and December.
