Where is Gulmarg?
The
valley of Gulmarg, about 3 sq km in area, is located at a distance of 56 km
southwest of Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in North India. It
lies at an elevation of 2,730 m.
How will you gain access?
Gulmarg is situated in the Baramullah district and the closest airport is
in the Badgam district. The airport is linked with all the major cities of
the country. Jammu is the nearest railhead. From Srinagar bus stand, one can
easily reach Gulmarg as there are good transport facilities provided. There
are bus services to Sonamarg as well from Srinagar and Anantnag.

» The Ningli Nallah
At a distance of 8 km from Gulmarg, lies the magnificent mountain stream of
Ningli Nallah. The stream, meandering down the valley, meets the Jhelum
river near Sopur. The vast verdant valley is an idyllic picnic spot and
attracts a number of tourists, travellers and visitors.
» Ferozpur Nallah
The Ferozpur Nallah is another wonderful mountain stream that joins the
Bahan river at a popular picnic spot called 'Water's Meet'. It lies at a
distance of 5 km down the valley of Gulmarg. From here one can reach a
number of beautiful picnic spots and some exquisite passes lying nearby.
» Shrine of Baba Reshi
The shrine of Baba Reshi can be reached either from Gulmarg or Tangmarg.
Here lies the tomb of a Muslim saint who died here in the year 1480. The
saint before reaching sainthood was a courtier of the Kashmir King Zainul
Abidin. Every year, myriad of devotees arrive here to pay their tributes to
the saint, no matter what faith, caste or creed they belong to.
» Golf Courses
Gulmarg also boasts of having one of the world's highest green golf courses.
Golf sets are also available on hire. There are instructors as well to guide
you through the game. These splendid golf courses rope in a good number of
golfers from far and wide.
What are the adventures in store?
As soon as winter sets in, Gulmarg dons its snowy attire, turning itself
into one of the finest skiing resorts in the world. The town invites both
the beginners and skilled skiers. Skiis, sticks and goggles are all
available on hire. You need not worry in the least if you are a beginner.
All you have got to do is find an instructor and begin skiing down a slope.

Hotel Highlands Park (64 km from airport) is a popular 3-star in Gulmarg.
