Where is Pushkar?
Pushkar (14 km from Ajmer) is located in the state of Rajasthan in
northwestern India. It is a sacred town of the state and is held in high
esteem by the Hindu devotees.

Pushkar is known all over the world for its sacred lake and the Brahma
Temple. Legend goes that the lake came into being as Lord Brahma dropped a
lotus on the day of the full moon.

Jaipur Airport (146 km) is the closest airport from Pushkar. Ajmer (14 km)
is the nearest railhead. The city bus service runs a bus to Ajmer every 20
minutes.

Pushkar experiences an extreme type of climate. During the summers,
temperature can go up to a maximum of 45 degrees centigrade. Temperature, in
winters, can drop down to 10 degrees centigrade. The place does not receive
much rainfall during the monsoon months.

The Brahma Temple is the key attraction of the town of Pushkar. It is the
only temple in India dedicated to Lord Brahma. Devotees from all over the
country pour into the place to offer prayers and to seek blessings from the
lord.
» Savitri Temple
The Savitri temple is perched on a hill behind the Brahma Temple. The
temple is dedicated to the first wife of Lord Brahma. It can be reached by a
flight of steps. It gives a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding
areas.
» Man Mahal
On the banks of the Pushkar Lake, stands the very magnificent Man Mahal.
The palace was built by Raja Man Singh. A part of the palace is now the RTDC
Hotel Sarovar which provides fabulous accommodation to the visitors.
» Pushkar Ghats
There are a number of Ghats running down the Pushkar lake. Devotees and
worshippers can be seen taking bath in the holy waters of the lake. One who
wishes to join them should do it with respect, removing one's shoes. One is
never supposed to be smoking in these highly revered places. However,
photography is prohibited.
